Knitwit Viscose Nylon Ponti Double Knit Fabric is a hard wearing medium weight double knit ideal for pants, skirts and jackets, as well as winter tops or fitted dresses. It has a fine ribbed surface.
Ponti di Roma (bridges of Rome plural) fabric is often called Ponte di Roma (bridge of Rome singular) or just Ponti or Ponte. A magnified close up of the fabric illustrates how the loop structure of the fabric is reminiscent of bridge arches.
We stock Ponti di Roma Double Knit Fabric in two ranges of colours:
- this Viscose Nylon Ponti which is 340gsm, medium stretch, four way stretch and is 67% Viscose 28% Nylon 5% Spandex and
- our Polyviscose Ponti which is 310gsm, low stretch, two-way stretch and is 72% Polyester 23% Viscose 5% Spandex.
This Knitwit Viscose Nylon Ponti di Roma is medium stretch, by which we mean 35% stretch. If your pattern is sized for a low stretch fabric (less then 35%stretch), you can still use it, but you may need to take the garment in.
It is four way stretch, by which we mean the fabric stretches in 2 directions: from selvedge to selvedge and also lengthways. If your pattern is sized for a two way stretch fabric, you can still use Ponti.
