Knitwit Ponti di Roma Double Knit Fabric is a hard wearing medium weight double knit ideal for pants, skirts and jackets, as well as winter tops or fitted dresses. It has a fine ribbed surface.
Knitwit Ponti di Roma is low stretch, by which we mean less than 25%. If your pattern is sized for a medium stretch (25-35%) fabric, you can still use it, but you may need to cut out a size bigger.
Knitwit Ponti di Roma is a four way stretch, by which we mean the fabric stretches in 2 directions: from selvedge to selvedge and also lengthways. If your pattern is sized for a two way stretch fabric, you can still use Ponti.

[Spandex is the preferred name of spandex fibre in the US, and it is known in Europe as elastane, and in the UK and Australia as Lycra®. Spandex is actually an anagram of expands.]
Ponti di Roma (bridges of Rome plural) fabric is often called Ponte di Roma (bridge of Rome singular) or just Ponti or Ponte. If you go to zara.com and search on ponti you get what they call ponte di roma – same thing. It is the fine ribbed surface that gives it the name.
