Knitwit Golden Dawn Burnout Velour is a burnout velour fabric suitable for evening tops, soft skirts and dresses – easy-care i.e. doesn’t need ironing, trans-seasonal, and great for travelling.
Burnout (also called devoré) is a fabric technique used to create a semi-transparent pattern against more solidly knitted fabric. Devoré (Wikipedia – opens in new tab) comes from the French verb dévorer, meaning literally to devour.
High stretch, by which we mean 50% stretch. If your pattern is sized for a medium stretch (25-35%) fabric, you can still use it, but you may need to take the garment in on the side seams after you have tried it on.
Knitwit Golden Dawn Burnout Velour is a two way stretch, by which we mean the fabric stretches in 1 direction only, from selvedge to selvedge.
