Description
Knitwit Ponte Double Knit Fabric is a hard wearing medium weight double knit ideal for pants, skirts and jackets, as well as winter tops or fitted dresses. It has a fine ribbed surface.
Ponti di Roma (bridges of Rome plural) fabric is often called Ponte di Roma (bridge of Rome singular) or just Ponti or Ponte. A magnified close up of the fabric illustrates how the loop structure of the fabric is reminiscent of bridge arches.
Knitwit Ponte Double Knit Fabric is low stretch, by which we mean less than 25%. If your pattern is sized for a medium stretch (25-35%) fabric, you can still use it, but you may need to cut out a size bigger.
It is two way stretch, by which we mean the fabric stretches in one direction only, from selvedge to selvedge. However, if your pattern is sized for a four way stretch, you can still use this fabric.
If you need to, brush up on sewing with jersey knit fabrics.
