Misses’ Shawl Collar Cardigans
Cardigan fronts extend to form collar (wrong side will show), full-length sleeves finished with stitched hems. Raw edge finished with topstitching or edges can be serged, finished with zig-zag or decorative stitches. A: Short length with shawl collar. B: Long length with draped shawl collar.
This is an incredibly easy pattern which I have made up many times. I generally make it on the overlocker using the 4 threads, and then edge the whole jacket on the overlocker with only 3 threads. This gives a narrower, neater seam to finish it off.
The pattern says for moderate stretch knits only. However you can use high stretch fabrics as well. You may need to try it on before finishing, and run in the side seams if necessary. You can make it out of a range of different weights of knits, and it will look different each time. I have used the Italian Jumperknits with great success.
